If a breastfeeding woman stops abruptly she will still get engorged with milk. She may have to pump occasionally to relieve the discomfort but cannot pump too often or she will keep making milk. She can take some tylenol acetaminophen or Motrin for 2 or 3 days if needed to relieve pain.
